How can cities develop their knowledge economy, and what can they learn from each other? These are the key questions of the KnowCities project, an EU-sponsored Interreg project that unities 11 partners along the Atlantic Arc: Aviles, Brest, Cardiff, Coimbra, Donegal, Dos Hermanas, Gijon, Lorient, San Sebastian, Sevilla, and Vannes.
Urban IQ developed a model to describe and analyse the urban knowledge economy in each region. This helps to understand where the cities stand in the knowledge economy, which paths they are following in their development, and which policies are appropriate.
UrbanIQ was also coaching some of the partner cities to help them improve their cluster strategies.
The project ran from April 2011 to June 2013.
